New version now available: Secure document verification accelerated once again

A new release improves several functions of the Genuine-ID software. The solution is used for the secure and automated verification of ID documents in real time. The software from jenID Solutions GmbH can be flexibly integrated and is used in all industries where identity checks are required.

These are the most important new features:

• Optical character recognition: improvement in successful field reading rate to around 90%, improvement in character recognition rate to around 95 %
• Significant reduction in application start time to less than 30 seconds
• New API functions improve the setting of images and the retrieval of results. Results and images of a test procedure can now be saved directly, for example.
• Reduction of the memory consumption per transaction by at least 30 %. This not only reduces the memory requirement enormously, but also speeds up the processing of images considerably.
• Reduced memory requirements thanks to improved memory management in the document verification engine
• New security check to detect documents marked as invalid
• Support for multilingual applications: Results can be retrieved in different languages for each legitimization process. Currently supported languages are GER, EN, ES, FR.

When opening an account, renting a car, gambling, at border controls, at the airport, when registering for exams or dealing with the authorities: identity checks are required in many places.

Authentication with Genuine-ID is fully automated in all steps and is therefore significantly faster, more secure and more user-friendly than the authentication of documents by untrained staff.

How document verification with Genuine ID works

The identity check is carried out in real time using a smartphone, tablet, computer or standard multifunctional device (printer/scanner). A photo or scan of the front and back of the required ID document (ID card, passport, driving license, etc.) is taken.

Optical character recognition (OCR) is continuously improved and trained by jenID specifically for ID documents using deep learning methods. With the current release, the character recognition rate is 94.8 %. The software compensates slight soiling or creases.

The image is immediately sent to jenID’s global database, which contains templates from over 140 countries. Within a few seconds, the AI checks the document for numerous security features. The global database is also continuously trained by jenID and learns with each verification process.

All servers are located in Germany and are subject to German data protection laws.

The solution is user-friendly and does not require any special training for employees. For smartphone users, a short tutorial video guides them through the individual steps of the mobile solution.
